Police arrested a man inside Trump International Hotel in downtown Washington early Wednesday after discovering an assault rifle, a handgun and ammunition inside his vehicle.
Law enforcement sources tell CBS News the man is from Pennsylvania and was arrested on weapons charges Wednesday morning. The Metropolitan Police Department received a tip that the suspect was on his way to the hotel.
Federal authorities, including the Secret Service, are involved in the investigation. D.C. police say they will hold a press conference Wednesday morning to discuss the case.
Trump International Hotel is located just blocks from the White House in the Old Post Office building. Mr. Trump attended the opening of the hotel just weeks before Election Day, and has dined at the property several times as president.
